Join us at BOOM Concepts on Penn Ave. in Garfield on Tuesday, February 19 at 7PM for an evening of cocktails and conversation on organizing International Women’s Strike and building a new global women’s movement, while helping the Pittsburgh IWS coalition raise funds for this year’s March 8 action!
Funds raised at this event will help us pay for promotional materials, permit fees, childcare, interpreters, food and drink, compensation for speakers, and any incidental costs that may occur. Any funds left over will go to help kickstart Pittsburgh IWS in 2020! Can’t make it out? Click here to donate safely and securely to our GoFundMe campaign.
The International Women’s Strike is an anti-capitalist movement in 50+ countries that has developed around International Women’s Day (March 8). It aims to organize women and working people in protest against exploitation, gender oppression, racism, and imperialism.
Millions of women and non-binary people have recently demonstrated that our power is in our solidarity against the wealthy establishment elite–from leading teacher strikes and walkouts against sexual harassment in food service and tech, to flight attendants ending Trump’s government shutdown by threatening a general work stoppage. The Pittsburgh Coalition stands in solidarity with these struggles, and aims to promote these methods to win lasting victories and a better world for all!
